2026 General Election Republican Workers and Volunteers

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Full-Time Election Office Staff - Help manage the day-to-day operations of elections and voter registration, assist voters, process election paperwork, and keep the election office running smoothly throughout the election cycle. (This is a year-round, full time job. Must be a Republican voter. Starting pay is $40,000.00 per year. 40 hours per week. Benefits available. Part-Time Election Office Staff - Support the election office during busy election periods by assisting with voter services, preparing election materials, and helping ensure every election runs efficiently. (Maximum 29 hours per week. $15.00/hour. Commitment varies by needs of office.) Early Voting Election Clerk - Work directly with voters during early voting by checking in voters, verifying eligibility, and helping provide a smooth, secure voting experience. Must be a registered voter of Lake County and a Republican voter. (This is a 28-day commitment. $15.00/hour. Training required through Board of Elections Office.) Travel Board Team - Serve on a bipartisan team that brings voting machines directly to eligible voters who are unable to travel to the polls. Must be a registered voter of Lake County and a Republican voter. (Must be willing to travel via car to locations. Five day minimum commitment within an approximately two week window. $60/day. Drivers earn $0.725/mile. Training required through Board of Elections Office.) Absentee Ballot Counter - Help process and count absentee ballots in a secure, bipartisan environment while following Indiana election laws and established chain-of-custody procedures. Must be a registered voter of Lake County and a Republican voter. (This is a ONE day commitment. $12.50/hour. Additional $20 bonus awarded for a shift over 8 hours. Training required through Board of Elections Office. *Available to students aged 16-17.*) Machine Mechanic / Programmer - Assist with preparing, testing, deploying, and maintaining voting equipment to ensure every polling location is ready for Early Voting and Election Day. Technical experience is helpful, but training is provided and required. (This is a 4-6 week commitment. $13.50/hour with a possibility for overtime. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must have a driver's license and vehicle. Valid bank account required for direct deposit. Training required through Board of Elections Office.) Election Day Poll Workers - Be the front line workers by helping voters check in, operate voting equipment, and keep your polling location running efficiently on Election Day. (Must be a registered voter of Lake County and a Republican voter for all positions, unless a student. Training required through Board of Elections Office for all positions. THREE types of workers are needed. ONE-TWO day commitment.) 1. INSPECTOR BACKUPS: Democrats are typically the Inspectors, but if for some reason they cannot fill their positions, Republicans may be needed to step up. Inspectors run the polls and are the overseers of Election Day in the precincts. <<*NOT available to students aged 16-17.* Base Pay - $210/day. | Training Pay - $30.2. JUDGES: There are two Judges; one Republican and one Democrat scheduled in each location. If your Inspector is a Democrat, the Republican Judge is REQUIRED BY LAW to return the election equipment at the end of the night. This is not optional. Judges take the voters to the machines and assist voters and the Inspectors as necessary. <<*Available to students aged 16-17, if they have a car and are able to travel to the drop off location at the end of the night.* Base Pay - $145/day. | Training Pay - $30. | Drop Off Pay - $25. 3. CLERKS: Check in voters on the PollPads (iPads) during Election Day. <<Available to students aged 16-17*. Base Pay - $145/day. | Training Pay - $30.

VOLUNTEER

Phone Banking - Contact voters by phone to provide election information, remind them about important dates, and encourage participation in local elections. Can be on behalf of an individual candidate you support or for all of the Republican candidates. If desired, call lists can be provided. Door Knocking - Meet voters in your community, share campaign information, answer basic questions, and help increase voter turnout one neighborhood at a time. Can be on behalf of an individual candidate you support or for all of the Republican candidates. Walking lists and literature provided. Candidate Assistance - Help Republican candidates with events, literature distribution, setup, logistics, and other campaign activities throughout the election season. Also consider handing out literature at precincts on Election Day and encouraging people to vote Republican! Poll Book Holders, Poll Watchers, & Challengers Credentials - These are Election Day polling location credentials offered from the Lake County Republican Party County Chairman. This entitles a person to enter and exit the precinct throughout the day. Observe election activities inside polling locations to help ensure procedures are followed and report concerns through the proper channels. Also represent the party at polling locations by raising questions regarding voter eligibility when permitted by Indiana law while helping preserve election integrity through the legal process. Speak to the County Chairman if you are interested. ONLY 1 of each per precinct is available. *NOT available to students aged 16-17* Deputy Election Commissioners (DECs) - Serve as the Election Board's field representative by assisting poll workers, resolving Election Day issues, and helping ensure every polling location follows Indiana election laws and procedures. You will work directly with the Republican Director of the LCBER office and the Board of Elections members. Full access to all polling locations on Election Day, but generally work in a small zone or region of the county. You are an extension of the Lake County Board of Elections and have final authority in the polling location. Election experience is preferred. Attorneys are encouraged to inquire. *NOT available to students aged 16-17* Parade and Festival Crew - For the social butterflies! Meet new people, chat with friends, and enjoy the festivities! Fair booths, parade walkers, float designers, the sky's the limit. You might even get a free t-shirt or two!
